Bloma Nathi Radio: Training young people about the impact of social media

Our project manager Polly Sekwala speaks with Bloma Nathi Radio about Ilizwe Lam, a programme where 13 to 18-year-olds learn about online safety.

“Young people who engage with social media and may not be aware of the opportunities and dangers that digital media offers,” says Sekwala. “During these one-hour sessions, our facilitators train teenagers about privacy, cyberbullying, what can you do to protect yourself from being hacked, and the importance of being good digital citizens.” Sekwala also discusses Ilizwe Lam’s work with educators, which includes helping teachers advocate for change using social media.

The conversation showcases the ways in which Digify Africa is at the forefront of shaping Africa’s digital future.
